Underbelly TV Movies

After the success of the Channel Nine gangland drama series, Underbelly, the network are now looking at producing three mini movies based on the series.

Screen Australia has announced funding for the new projects, which will focus on a number of crimes stories form around our country.

The telemovies have been talked about for quite some time with many websites and television experts tipping them to be made a few years ago.

The upcoming TV films will see the following plots explored:

The armed robber Russell ‘Mad Dog’ Cox and his crazy crimes he committed along his journey.

The murders of Victorian police officers Silk and Miller, with their story to be tied in with the Lorimer Taskforce.

And the third will focus on the Victorian policeman Colin McLaren’s infiltration of the Calabrian Mafia, which will be by far the most popular and most interesting plot to dissect.

The projects are expected to be produced by Peter Gawler and Elisa Argenzio with Peter Gawler the chief writer.

Graeme Koetsveld and Kris Mrksa will also help out with the script, and they will be directed by Shawn Seet, Grant Brown and Cherie Nowlan.

How they will tie back to the current Underbelly brand is still yet to be revealed.
