It has been one of the most hyped television shows in the Australian cable era, and the producers of the boxing reality series, The Contender: Australia, are sure the finial product will not disappoint.
The man behind the reality empire, Mark Burnett, says the series will follow the challenges faced by the boxers in their personal lives and careers, and give insight to their fears and hopes.
The series has been around for almost a decade now and has even branched off into the Muay Thai kickboxing form of fighting, as well as the boxing version.
The Australian version will be the first time the franchise has ventured into our shores and for the first time, all the fighters will be Australian.
For those of you who might not know about the show, the series will see 14 professional super middleweight boxers from Australia live, train and compete together over an eight week period.
The series has been known to make a name for many struggling boxers, while at the same time, show viewers the emotion involved with the sport.
The winner will win themselves a $250,000 pay cheque, and earn the right to fight world champion boxer, Anthony ‘the man’ Mundine for a shot at the title.
Charlotte Dawson and Daniel Amalm will host the series, with the production based at Sydney’s Olympic Park.
Aussie boxing legends, Johnny Lewis and Paul Briggs and Billy Hussein will also be part of the shows, acting as mentors for the fighters throughout their campaigns.
The Contender: Australia will premiere next Monday, November 2nd at 8.30pm on FOX8.
