Survivor: Samoa

Great news for Survivor fans with confirmation the Nine Network will fulfil its promise and screen the latest season of the reality TV series in a prime time buffer.

The nineteenth season of the gruelling and scheming survival show will make its way to the tiny island of Samoa where castaways will once again fight it out to see who will be the sole survivor.

The million dollar prize money will be back yet again, and so too will be the backstabbing, manipulating and the strategical mind games viewers have become accustomed to in the past.

The show had been a huge success in its earlier years, winning the prestigious people choice award in America from 200 to 2004.

However, since then the show has had only reasonable success, far from the popularity it experienced during the first few seasons.

In Australia, the Nine network has given the series minimal respect in recent years, with the show often airing during the late hours, or even early hours of the morning.

This year Survivor: Gabon and Tocantins have both been moved over to the networks new digital channel, GO!, where episodes have screened back to back in an effort to churn through them as quickly as possible.

The fact the show has been rating well, despite the neglect from channel Nine, has prompted network officials to relaunch the programme in a prime time slot.

Beginning December 1, Survivor: Samoa will screen every Tuesday night from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, one week at a time.
