Channel Nine has announced Vince Sorrenti and Jo Silvagni as the hosts of their new weekend cooking lifestyle show, The Great Aussie Cook Off.

The show, which was programmed by the network to rival Ten’s highly rating MasterChef, will air in October as 8 part series at 5pm Sundays.

With the leading supermarket chain, Coles, backing the production, The Great Aussie Cook Off is one of  the many up and coming sponsor-driven  series the public will see on the small screen.

The stand up comedian Sorrenti, who has spent the past years writing for The Daily Telegraph and hosting numerous events, was thrilled at the opportunity to host the new show.

“There is nothing nicer than having a good laugh with the family while enjoying a hearty meal prepared in the home kitchen,” Sorrenti said.

“I can’t wait to see what our chosen families cook up during the series as each family member including the kiddies adds their special touch.”

Former Sale of the Century hostess Jo Silvagni was also exited about her return the television hosting.

I’m thrilled to be involved in this great new series that will inspire Aussie families to enjoy the fun and pleasure of home cooking,” Silvagni said.

“I love the idea that the recipes designed by each competing family will be available for viewers at home who can try them out for themselves and vote for their favourite.”

Filming for the series, which sees families of four from around Australia compete against each other, began this week in Australia.
