Doctor Who fans will get to see their favourite sci-fi hero, David Tennant, as they have never seen him before: As a cartoon figure!
The BBC has released the first image of the animated Doctor in the new animation series, Dreamland, which will be due for broadcast in the UK later this year.
Dreamland, is a new six part Doctor Who series starring the outgoing Doctor Tennant and sees him visiting the notorious US alien hotspot Roswell.
Russell T. Davies, Julie Gardner and Piers Wenger, with Gary Russell as director, are producing dreamland. Phil Ford who is credited with scripting Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures is the head writer.
Davies said he was exited about the launch of Dreamland and the new dimension it will add to the Doctor Who brand.
“Dreamland is a remarkable project and I’m thrilled with it,” Davies said.
“Phil Ford is a wonderful writer and promises to send the Doctor into a whole new visual dimension.”
Georgia Moffett will play the role of Cassie Rice in the series while David Warner will also stars as the leader of the ruthless Viperox.
The basic plot of the series has been released by the producers, it reads:
“During a visit to a local diner he stumbles upon a mysterious alien artifact that leads him on a mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the Viperox and the clutches of the American military.”
While there is no news on when Dreamland will hit the Australian shores, it is sure to be a big hit with Doctor Who fans and it will be interesting to see how well the doctor is translated into the cartoon world.
