The Nine network will begin streaming the Today show on the Ninemsn website from Monday. The morning show will be available live online, giving everyone the chance to view morning television.
Executive producer Tom Malone told TVtonight the live streaming would give “office workers the opportunity to catch up with their favourite bits of the show right at their desks.”
A trial webcast of the morning talk show was conducted yesterday, to ensure it was hitch free before Monday’s premiere.
Head of Ninemsn Andrew Hunter said the live internet aspect is “unprecedented for an Australian commercial television network” and that they were excited to extend the Today show audience.
The Today show is on the Nine network Monday- Friday and screens from 6am-9am meaning many office workers will miss the show. The live streaming allows those who might be at work or away from home to tune in to the program.
The breakfast television program is an offshoot of the news of the day with sport, weather, entertainment, current affairs, and also topical issues such as health, politics, consumer affairs, education, fashion and business and finance.
Ninemsn’s official launch of the live streaming will begin Monday and will coincide with a broadcast from New Zealand. The news bulletin and Today show can be viewed simultaneously at the official Ninemsn website as of Monday.
