Henry VII has a lust for power and a sturdy appetite for love, the young sex god monarch rules his kingdom the way he lives his life- with ruthless abandon. The Tudors stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Henry VIII and although it is back for a third season on Showtime, viewers without Pay TV will be able to see the fine Lord in Bluray action.
The compelling TV series is now available in the finest definition, Bluray technology. And who could expect anything less when watching the velvet goldmine ruler in all his glory?
The Tudors focuses on Henry VII and his lascivious ways as he rules England for almost a 40-year reign. Through lavish costumes, elaborate setting and locations, passionate story telling and sexy performances viewers are taken back to England’s early years and show the drama behind the prim and proper King.
This show is almost the medieval England version of Days of Our Lives- backstabbing, power, lust, greed, envy and romance all played out throughout the series.
Henry VII eliminates his wives with ease, and is now on to his third wife miss Jane Seymour who is determined for a male child to become heir. As well as trying to remove the obsession the King advances an attack throughout the Kingdom, fighting against Catholic monasteries and churches.
But with the attack, comes wide dissent, commoners staging a revolt in a response to Henry VII crackdown. Much like Braveheart, thousands of commoners arm themselves to fight. The short-tempered King has adviser Thomas Cromwell to guide him on his way, but this triumphant ruler has no time for reason.
There are strong power plays between characters- friendships broken and alliances formed- which makes The Tudors a captivating series. Writer Michael Hurst gives audiences a compelling view of England’s royal past and is a passionate series one must not miss.
The complete first season of The Tudors is available on Bluray and the next season of the enduring show returns Wednesday 8.30pm on Showcase.
