The Nine Network has announced home grown Hollywood star Russel Crowe will narrate its new reality series, The Secret Millionaire.
The show derives from the British TV series with the same name.
The Secret Millionaire involves millionaires going undercover into an unknown underprivileged area, where no one knows about their wealth.
After spending time with the community, and getting to know the locals intimately, the wealthy then give tens of thousands of their own money to those who they feel deserve it.
In Australia’s six part series, we will see some of the nations wealthiest hit to some of the poorer suburbs across the land.
Members of the community are told the cameras are present due to a documentary filming.
The show will aim at giving viewers a psychological and social insight in to working class Australian and try to bridge the misconceptions between the rich and the poor.
The series will engage viewers in important social issues, extol the virtues of volunteerism and philanthropy, and will change the lives of disadvantaged people and the philanthropists who helped them in unexpected ways.
A US series of the show has aired recently, and The Secret Millionaire Australia is expected to premiere in the next couple of weeks on Nine.
