After five successful seasons on US channel NBC, “The Office” will soon run for the sixth season, and will be released on Blu-ray disc. This popular TV series was first written by comedian Ricky Gervais and debuted in 2001 on UK television. Since the success of the comedic show, countries around the world have made their own sketch show with the same name.
Universal Home Video has announced they will release “The Office” in a five-disc collection and they will team this with a 4-disc Blu-ray set to match. The US version of “The Office” premiered in 2005 and has since gone on to make five other seasons.
Although the NBC claim the US version is not adaptations from the hit UK series, the American version of The Office has the same general story ideas, scenes and characters based on the original.
“The Office” stars comedic actors Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson and B.J Novak and has received top ratings from US viewers. Over the five seasons, the TV show has won an Emmy Award, SAG Award, Ace Eddie Award and an award for the Television Critics Association.
This popular mockumentary, is a satire TV series developed by Greg Daniels. The show tells the story of everyday lives of office employees at fictional paper company Dunder Miffin. It is shot in a documentary single-camera style to enhance the look, the camera only being acknowledged by the characters on screen.
The comedic show is set to premier on the US TV network on September 17 but Australian fans will have to be satisfied with the DVD collection. If you haven’t watched the first five seasons on television, perhaps it is time to catch up watching the 5-disc (series 1-5) collection or the 4-disc (series 1-5) blu-ray collection of “The Office”.
