Survivor to Return on Channel Nine’s GO!

One of the pioneers of the Reality TV genre, Survivor, will return to the small screen next week with its 17th installment; Survivor: Gabon, “Earth’s Last Eden”.

On the back of the Micronesia season where, despite its timeslot of 10:30, it rated quite well among viewers, the newest African adventure will cross over to Channel Nine’s new teen High Definition channel, GO!, as one of the pioneer shows.

Nine had been teasing viewers with the latest Mark Burnett installment for the past six months but it had been nowhere to be seen.

It appears the network was in talks about weather to keep the show on throughout the late night on their main channel, or use it as a ratings draw card on their new one.

Regardless of weather it is on channel 9 or channel 99, Survivor: Gabon will be returning to our small screens, and in the latest season, viewers, as usual, are in for an abundance of backstabbing, twists, bitching, scheming and drama.

For the first time in the history of the CBS show, an Olympic gold medalist will join the contestant list, as too will a 61 year-old grandmother.

The show has also been shot in High Definition for the first time ever, a move which host Jeff Probst feels will give the fans a better viewing experience.

“If you’re a Survivor fan and you have HD, it will be a completely different show,” Probst said.

“When you incorporate the wildlife, it’s kind of like being in a Spielberg movie. I mean, it’s so real-looking that it’s exciting and scary.”

Survivor: Gabon, “Earth’s Last Eden” will premiere next Tuesday, August 11 at 8:30 on channel GO!
