Curb Your Enthusiasm has reunited with the cast from the smash hit comedy Seinfeld, in an appropriate episode titled, Seinfeld: the Reunion.
Channel Nine aired the episode 9pm on Tuesday night and was well received by the Australian audiences.
Producer and co-creator of the Seinfeld series, Larry David, had originally thought of the idea of a series reunion as a ‘lame idea’, but soon swayed his opinion when it was pitched to do so during an episode of his own series, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The series is currently in its seventh series and is highly popular with fans of the decade long retired Seinfeld shows.
The announcement to combine all the characters and shows into one episode surprised everyone around the world, including David.
“I always said no. We would never do that,” he said.
“And then I thought it might be very funny to do that on Curb. And I kept thinking about it and started to think of different scenarios. I called Jerry [Seinfeld] and Jerry was game. I called the others and we did it.”
Curb Your Enthusiasm has regularly made references to the show, characters and David’s role as writer and co-creator.
The good news for fans of the episode is that a second reunion episode is set to follow.
The Seinfeld Reunion Part two (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will air 9pm next Tuesday October 27th.
Having aired episode three of series seven, it will now skip straight to Episode six a week later.
