Nine’s new found love for Mark Burnett’s Survivor franchise seems to be paying off with more than impressive ratings for the Samoa series, which finished on Tuesday night.

The 19th series overall in the ten year strong franchise was given the prime time slot of 7:30 on Tuesday nights over the non ratings summer period.

The show did ok in the first few weeks pulling in 700,000 viewers and gradually grew to just under the million mark by the finale.

The Network decided to speed up the finale by screening double episodes in the aim of running the next series live with America to avoid any series spoilers.

The 20th series, Heroes vs. Villains, will see 20 former contestants of the show come back in two opposing tribes, one made up of heroes, and the other made up of backstabbing villains.

Some will be on their third Survivor show, while others their second. Only one made it from the Samoa series – Runner-Up ‘Evil’ Russel.

Survivor; Heroes vs. Villains is set to screen in the later stages of the year on the Nine network.
