After thousands of ballads, millions of tone-deaf auditions and six winners, Australian Idol is back for another season. The final 100 for the 2009 series have just been informed they are in the top group of Australia’s singers.
FremantleMedia Australia producers have given 100 singing hopefuls from across the country the good news. Idol contestants must choose wisely in order to make it to the next round, the top 24. Singers will undertake a range of tasks to make the cut, all of which will be shown on the new Idol season.
Australian Idol is based on the US and UK Idol series, and based on the show PopIdol where 12 contestants perform a number of songs in different genres. Week after week the singers will be judged on their performances by set judges, and the audience and whoever has the least amount of votes will leave the competition.
This year Australian Idol has had some big changes- Co-host James Mathison announcing he would no longer be apart of the series and musical director John Foreman also decided it was time to leave the stage.
But as they say in show business, “the show must go on”, Australian Idol continuing this year and will launch when reality cooking program MasterChef is no longer on the air.
