Over the past few days television scheduling has been disrupted- due to the untimely death of pop icon Michael Jackson. Since his death last Friday, there have been numerous Jackson show’s broadcast on TV to honor the late King of Pop.
Last night there were two shows dedicated to the life of Michael Jackson, one on Network Seven the other on Channel Ten- each trying to show their own unique portrayal of Jackson’s career.
The shows have kept on coming, starting from Friday we have had news coverage of the pop star on all news networks, a special program made by those in the US, endless clips on Rage, newly-completed documentaries and some from random times throughout his career.
It doesn’t matter what MJ show is screening-viewers seem to watch them. The TV networks are getting some of their best ratings from the Jackson tribute shows, bumping other new episodes in favour of the King of Pop.
And the specials on Michael Jackson just keep on coming. It is not known as to whether last nights show “Michael Jackson: Picking Up The Pieces” was the final one from the channel Ten network, but from what we have seen the past week, probably won’t be the last. As long as people keep watching, the TV networks will keep on screening MJ specials to get the ratings.
TV may get back to its original scheduling times next week, but until then Simpson’s and Law & Order SVU fans will have to wait for their new episodes to be screened.
