If your book idea gives someone the idea for a murder, does that make you responsible for the crime committed? Crime Writer Arthur Upfield was faced with this question when his friend Snowy Rowles used Upfield’s plot to commit murder.
In 3 acts of murder, we will see how Upfield is placed in a difficult situation when Rowles’ decides to murder 3 men, saying he got his inspiration from Upfield’s ideas. Upfield is then questioned and must confront his own role in the men’s death.
Based on a true story, this new series set in the years of the Great Depression tells the story of two men who take something different out of a simple conversation. The trail is shown throughout the series, where Rowles was found guilty and Upfield finally gets credit for his imaginative writing ideas. Upfield went on to become one of Australia’s most recognised and successful crime writers in history.
3 acts of murder is an Australian made telemovie that explores when a “fictional crime becomes a fatal reality”. This TV series will be shown on ABC1 8:30pm Sunday, June 14.
