Nine’s Footy Show recorded massive audience figures for its extravagant finale last night at Rod Laver Arena, thanks largely to the AFL version of the show.
In combination with the northern NRL version, the shows pulled a whopping 1.2 million viewers for its 8:30 pm time slot.
The Victorian version managed to draw an impressive 583,000 in the state alone, while over 15 thousand bums packed the seats at the entertainment centre.
Some of the usual segments filled the viewers with entertainment, including the best of Street talk, Almost Football Legends and the Players Review performance, which saw players re-enact dance songs, including Shane Crawford dressing as P!nk.
Nine took the evening with a whopping 34.9% share -more than 10% clear of Seven.
It was much anticipated throughout the night weather or not producers of the show would air the controversial Brownlow Medal street talk, hosted by the drunken Blue Brendan Fevola, after he had clearly had one too many drinks.
Due to popular demand, the Nine Network decided to go ahead with selected highlights of the night, which showed Fevola kicking beers out of opposition player’s hands, pretending to pressure point team mate Chris Judd and screaming profanity in front of the packed Crown Palladium crowd.
Fevola did not take part in the finale, and was handed a $10,000 fine by the club for his drunken antics.
