A producer from the Survivor series has been taken into custody by Mexican authorities following the death of his wife in a restaurant in Cancun.
Bruce Beresford-Redman, who is also credited with creating Pimp My Ride, told police that his wife disappeared on Monday from the luxurious Moon Palace resort they were staying at.
In a TV interview earlier on in the week, Beresford-Redman said he was helping in the search for his missing wife and that he was very distressed at her vanishing.
“I’m very hopeful someone will find my wife very soon. She still hasn’t been located and we’re looking,” he said.
Early media reports from the Mexican officials said that Monica Beresford-Redman, who owns the Brazilian-cuisine Zabumba Bar & Restaurant, had been strangled at the throat, with the body found in the sewer of a Cancun resort,
Her family had reported her missing and told police they believed it had something to do with foul play.
During his time on the smash hit reality series Survivor, Bruce Beresford-Redman has been nominated for three Emmy Awards.
He last worked on the CBS show in 2004 and has also worked on Mark Burnett’s short-lived series The Restaurant.
He is currently barred from leaving Mexico while authorities investigate the death of his wife and remains a suspect.
