American cartoon series, King of the Hill, has called it a day, with its final one-hour episode to air on September 13 on Fox.
After 13 seasons and declining ratings, the Fox network finally decided to pull the pin on the series, opting to replace it with the Family Guy spin-off series The Cleveland Show, which has been highly anticipated.
The final episode is more of a back-to-back show consisting of, “The Boy Can’t Help It” and “The Honeymooners”.
In the first episode, the Hills’ teenage son Bobby is being teased by girls in his class who pretend to be interested in inviting him as a date for the Homecoming dance.
In the second half hour, Hank is shocked when his mother announces she is marrying a man she met only a few weeks earlier. Soon after, the newlyweds celebrate by purchasing an RV and Hank is left to save the day yet again.
King of the Hill begun on uncertain grounds in 1997 with mixed ratings by the public, However, it soon began to build a substantial fan base which saw it become the second longest-running American animated series ever, behind only The Simpsons.
The show was created by Mike Judge, known for his successful Beavis and Butthead series, and Greg Daniels, who was a former writer on for The Simpsons.
With the show now finally laid to rest, both writers, Judge and Daniels, plan to spend more time on their recent projects such as The Goode Family, Extract and The Office (US).
