Jay Dee Yet to Re-sign for Idol

Current Australian Idol judge, Jay Dee Springbett is facing a nervous wait to se if his contract is renewed for the 2010 series of the singing reality TV series.

Springbett was thrown into the vacant judges seat after the controversial sacking of Kyle Sandilands mid way through last year.

However he never really found a groove and found it hard to make an impact on the Australian viewers.

In fact there were times where he looked more like a nervous school boy on his first day, than he did the Sony Executive he has been so well known as.

An unnamed source has already intensified the allegations, stating:

“He was a good fill-in but now they are looking bigger and better.”

While Channel Ten have been quick to dispel the rumours as just that, there is no hiding the fact that the network producers are eager to change things up, especially after last year’s miserable success in the ratings.

It has even been suggested Sandilands has been thought of as returning to the seat.

However, Springbet does have one supporter, that being former Idol judge Mark Holden, who has publicly backed holding onto the new addition to the show.

“I think Jay Dee will evolve. The first time you do something like that it’s an absolute shock. No matter who you are, it’s hard to deal with that the first year,” Holden said.

Idol will return to Australian screens mid way through 2010.
