Hey Dad in Hot Water

Former Aussie smash hit TV series Hey Dad, is back in the headlines this week after allegations a young actor was a victim of sexual misconduct on set.

Sarah Monahan, who played the schoolgirl character of Jenny Kelly, has come out this week with claims a male on the show had fondled her.

Monahan, who was nine years old when she began working on the series, told Woman’s Day magazine of the events on set including a male exposing himself to her.

She did not name the man, nor did she say if he was a member of the cast or the crew.

The former executive producer of the successful series, Gary Reilly, said he was unaware of the allegations, and had not been told about them during the show.

He has, however, admitted to knowing about other allegations made during the series, involving another young actor.

Reilly reportedly organized a chaperone for the actor and approached the person’s parents to discuss the situation.

When he approached the alleged perpetrator about the rumours, the allegations were vehemently denied but ended with the man quitting the show.

“I approached the person on several occasions and we had stand-up rows about it, stand-up blues, to the extent that he resigned and I did not fight it,” Reilly said this week.

“If I ever see him again it will be too soon. He is someone who through his actions has victimized other people, cruelly, unnecessarily and evilly, if these allegations are true.”

“And that makes me extremely angry, extremely angry.”
