Darryl Somers may have already been ruled out of contention for a Logie in 2010 before nominations have even been announced.

The Hey Hey It’s Saturday host was controversially left out of TV Week’s Logies voting this year, much to the surprise of many people in the industry.

Somers hosted two Hey Hey reunion specials in 2009, which rated highly and was rewarded by a return series this year.

However, he wasn’t included in the category for Most Popular Presenter, meaning he will have no chance of winning the Gold Logie.

Bur despite his omission, Somers was still positive about the upcoming awards night.

“I’m just pleased the show is nominated -you’ll have to ask TV Week why I am not on the list,” Somers said.

“Maybe I’m not their demographic. I have to admit I was surprised – I thought I might be on the list when I saw the show was nominated.”

Hey Hey It’s Saturday Co-star John Blackman has called TV Weeks decision as “an absolute disgrace”, and is still shocked by the call.

“Of course he should have been nominated. He put in a sterling effort. But nothing surprises me about this industry any more,” he said.

“I am pleased the show’s been nominated, though, because it’s a team effort.”

The 2010 nominations will be announced on March 29th with the awards night a short time later.
