Master Chef Announce Top 50

With My Kitchen Rules out of the way, Channel Ten have now served out news on their smash hit reality cooking show, Master Chef, announcing the top 50 contestants for the up and coming season.

While the airdate is still not released, last nights launch in the Sydney studios gave a state-by-state breakdown of the final entrants.

As expected, Victoria and New South Wales lead the way with 14 contestants in each state, while South Australia followed with 10 representatives.

Queensland had six contestants, while Western Australia had four. Just two individuals represented Tasmania.

The Ten Network have remained tight lipped on any other info on the wannabe chefs, and did not disclose any details on about their age, sex and looks.

One of the shows judges, George Calombaris said the top 50 could expect to face some tough and grueling challenges.

“The calibre of the contestants this season is outstanding and the challenges, which kick off in Top 50 week, are impressive,” he said.

“They will need to conquer challenges put to them by Matt Moran and Donna Hay, in order to make it through to the Top 24.

”The other judges and I were really proud of series one but are even more proud of series two.”

The follow up series to last years ratings spectacular is expected to be just as successful, and network producers’ hope it blows away Seven’s rival show My Kitchen Rules, which finished this week.

Last year the premier had 1.4 million viewers tuning in, with an astonishing finale, which rated through the roof, with 3.7 million Aussies watching.
