More than 5000 people turned up to the steps of the Sydney Opera House to shed their clothes for the famous nude photo shoot by renowned photographer, Spencer Tunick, including Sunrise weatherman Grant Denyer!!!
The newlywed Denyer bared nothing but skin when he did his live cross from the event, and reportedly kept his back to the cameras at all times.
The sight would have a tough one for those morning work goers trying to eat their breakfast, but nonetheless it was a humorous and light hearted moment that should happen more on TV.
The 5000 plus crowd eclipsed the 4500 who braved the colder Melbourne in 2001 for a similar photo.
Tunick told the crowd to be upbeat while taking the photo.
“I want all couples to embrace and kiss, all friends to kiss and all strangers to do whatever they want,” he said as he directed the crowd.
Later, Tunick told the media how happy he was with the result and what it meant for the wider community.
“Gay men and women lay naked next to their straight neighbours and this delivered a very strong message to the world that Australians embrace a free and equal society,” he said.
People of all shapes, sizes and ages were among the crowd, who arrived as early as 3am to take part in the event which was commissioned by the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardis Gras.
However, the highlight for many was still the image of Denyer running through the crowd butt naked.
