The Banff TV awards have just wrapped up for another year and the HBO channel has topped the Canadian event. The HBO miniseries ‘John Adams’ won the Banff grand prize and has taken out the Drama Award for 2009.
The Banff World Television Festival kicked off in Alberta last week and has dished out many important TV awards. The historical drama ‘John Adams’- depicting the life and era of the second present of the US- was the big winner of the awards, picking up the Best Drama Award.
The awards took place in the Canadian Rockies and are considered to be one of the most important TV content creation event in the world. The Banff TV awards are held every year, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the big event.
The best Canadian program was awarded to Passage- a 19th century story about a company doctor who found a link to a passage and uncovered the bad circumstances that doomed the Sir John Franklin expedition.
Another Canadian winner was food show Family Restaurant who took out the award for best reality show.The festival continued for 3 days of prestigious and memorable awards. The 30th Banff World Television Awards run through Wednesday 10th of June.
