Despite the success for its American counterpart, the Australian version of The Apprentice has failed miserably in its debut season.
In only its second episode, the show has already sunk to a low in the ratings world, with only 657,000 people tuning into Channel Nine on Monday night to watch the show.
After a shocking debut last week, which saw only a slighter higher rating of 692,000 viewers, producers and network executives must now weigh up weather or not the show is worth keeping.
The flaws are obvious:
There is no Donald Trump, no obnoxious characters, and no extravagant project rewards where contestants are taken to multi million dollar functions and events, and no real flair.
The Australian replacement for Trump, Wizard Home Loan founder, Mark Bouris, has been criticized for being ‘too nice’, and his laid back, softly spoken personality is a stark contrast to the popular Trump.
The bottom line is the Australian version cannot compete with America and its competitive business world. This is reflected in the show.
The Apprentice was beaten in the time-slot by Seven’s Mercy (828,000) and Ten’s Good News Week (857,000) and Little Britain (673,000).
