The battle is on to see who is Australia’s best athlete, and of course, in what code.
Rexona’s successful first season of Australia’s Greatest Athlete did so well in its debut year, the producers are set to make another series of the sporting show.
While the concept will remain the same, there will be a few changes to the format of the show.
Firstly, the show will not be a sponsor driven series, which means Rexona will no longer be the major supporter, and will lose its byline in the title.
In addition, Australia’s Greatest Athlete will be crossing the border from the Nine Network to its new home at Channel Seven.
And the final change will see the changing of the host. Last year we saw Australian Cricket Captain Ricky Ponting with the hosting role, this year we see a change with Mark Beretta and Tom Williams taking over the reigns.
Last year we saw a bunch of athletes form many different codes battle it out. They included Rugby League star Billy Slater, Cricketing bad boy Andrew Symonds, Triathlete Ky Hurst, AFL footballer Brett Delidio and many more.
This year Slater returns to defend his crown against a new batch of athletes.
Olympic diving gold medalist Matthew Mitcham, A-league footballer Jason Culina, AFL’s Cameron Ling, rugby union’s James O’Connor, plus Wendell Sailor, V8 Super car driver Craig Lowndes and current and two-time World Ironman champion Shannon Eckstein are some of the new competitors.
Australia’s Greatest Athlete will begin at 4:30pm Saturday February 6th.

Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the written material on your site. But I am employing Firefox on a machine running version 9.04 of Crashbang Ubuntu and the look and feel aren’t quite correct. Not a strong deal, I can still basically read the articles and research for info, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of challenging to apply with the config I’m running. Keep up the superb work!
